The decisions of prof. Tadeusz Pomianek have an impact on the development of the region. Establishment of the Rzeszów school of managers at the „SOLIDARNOŚĆ” foundationIt all started out so innocently. With no share capital or Government funding. However, with the belief that the set goal was right.

University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów is established by The Association for Entrepreneurship Promotion. The main founding member of the UITM is the current President of UITM, Tadeusz PomianekThe University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów obtained permission to conduct education as the 81st non-public university in Poland and the 2nd in Podkarpackie Province.

UITM buildings are growing bigger and bigger thanks to the engagement of Urszula Pomianek, Chief ArchitectThe first year of UITM operation was characteristic of design work related to the development of the occupied space as well as supervision over the infrastructural expansion.

First students pursue their education in Computer Science and Econometrics, Economics and AdministrationSince the beginning of its activity UITM has run both full- time and extramural courses. In March 1996 UITM was granted permission to offer studies in Computer Science, Econometrics and Economics, and in December 1996 also in Administration.

The Department of Foreign LanguagesOn April 29, 1998, the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry English language Examination was conducted at UITM for the first time.

Polish-Ukrainian Economic Summit in Rzeszow, 23-24 May, 1998Aleksander Kwaśniewski, President of the Republic of Poland at the time as well as Łeonid Kuczma, President of the Ukraine at the time took part in the Summit. The report prepared by Professor Tadeusz Pomianek, titled „Barriers to Economic Cooperation between Poland and the Ukraine” was one of the most important materials discussed during the summit and became a source of further analyses by experts from both countries.

In the third academic year nearly 6,000 people started studying at UITM. In terms of the number of students, the University of Information Technology and Management is ranked third in Podkarpackie Province, after the Higher School of Education and Rzeszow University of Technology.In the academic year 1998/1999 UITM offered undergraduate courses in Economics, Computer Science and Econometrics, Administration, and the newly-launched Course – Tourism and Recreation.

The Inauguration of the Academic Year 1999/2000The Inauguration of the Academic Year 1999/2000 took place on October 11, 1999 at the Artur Malawski Philharmonic Hall of Podkarpacie.

We are the first University in Poland to implement a student processor card, i.e. a type of electronic student IDThe card was equipped with a microprocessor and storage memory. ESC served as a name tag as well as an electronic key, enabling access to hardware and programming resources as well as to particular databases. Thanks to the ESC, UITM students could access information on terminals located on the University campus. The card worked as a University library card and allowed students to enter labs or computer rooms.

UITM student is awarded a scholarship granted by the Minister of National Education and SportKatarzyna Wróbel was the first student to be awarded the prestigious scholarship granted by the Minister of National Education and Sport for outstanding academic achievements.

We are the firstuniversity in Poland to issueEuropeanComputerDrivingLicenses (ECDL). UITM is the biggest ECDL Certification Center in Poland.ECDL is a European certification that confirms the basic computer skills required in office work.

The first bachelor thesis defences and graduation ceremony at UITMOn April 29, 1999, the first bachelor examinations – theses defences in Economics were organized at UITM.

We are fluent in foreign languages! UITM becomes TELC Examination Center, in the following years UITM becomes a licensed partner of TELC, Frankfurt.The UITM Center for Foreign Languages gained the right to organise The European Language Certificates Exams (TELC).

Rewards for the initiator and Chancellor of UITM – Professor Tadeusz PomianekThe editorial staff of the Polish daily newspaper „Nowiny” awarded Tadeusz Pomianek, the then Chancellor of UITM and President of the Association for Entrepreneurship Promotion, the Laurel of „Nowiny” for the year 1998, on March 5, 1999.

The Inauguration of the Academic Year 2000/2001The Inauguration of the Academic Year 2000/2001 took place on October 16, 2000 at the Artur Malawski Philharmonic Hall of Podkarpacie.

We’ve got the biggest computer lab in south-eastern Poland and we are dreaming of a campusThere were 100 Internet-connected workstations (POLPAK, -T, 2 Mb/s) in the laboratory. The laboratory was opened for students for 12 hours a day.

Launching the UITM Academic Club – a space with art and creative energyArtistic cellars have a long and rich history in Poland. Many times their legend was created by academic circles, the student element, which also filled student clubs with fun. These traditions inspired the establishment of the UITM Academic Club in December 2000. It is a creative space filled with art and creative energy.

UITM’s first presentation of honorary distinctionsIn April 2000, the Bene Merenti Pro Academia ceremony was held for the first time in the University’s history.

UITM became a member of the Polish Confederation of Private Employers in Education Lewiatan, (which is the part of the Lewiatan Confederation); Professor Tadeusz Pomianek was elected the the President of the Association (he served as a President for two terms).The Polish Association of Private Employers in Education brings together private higher education institutions.The main goal of the Association is to achieve the equal treatment of the public and private sectors of education. For many years UITM has been a very active member of this association.

Economics students took the 2nd place in Marketplace Global CompetitionMarketplace is an international business simulation game. Students’ task was to analyze market data and make realistic business decisions.

UITM becomes a member of The Federation for EDucation in Europe (FEDE). The first UITM graduates who obtained Master’s degree diplomasIn the fifth year of UITM operation the first graduates (440 people) left UITM with Master’s degrees and another 1800 graduates with Bachelor’s degrees.

Poland was at the beginning of its efforts to become a member of the European Union, but a Regional Center for European Information (RCEI) had already been established at UITMAs a result of an agreement signed with the Office of the Committee for European Integration, the Regional Center for European Information (RCEI) was established.

We are expanding our offer of IT certificates, UITM has the second largest Cisco Academy in EuropeThe first Cisco Regional Academy in Podkarpackie Province was established at UITM. What is more, UITM was given the right to establish local Cisco academies.

We appreciate and support talented students from Poland and the Ukraine. UITM won the prestigious award in the national competition PRO PUBLICO BONO for the creation of a unique scholarship fund and for contributing to the region’s development.In the academic year 2000/2001 the UITM Scholarship Committee awarded 333 scholarships to students. 60 scholarships were funded by the Polish-American Educational Enterprise Foundation, the rest was funded from UITM own resources.

Being ambitious for the future, UITM takes care of preserving the region’s traditions by establishing the KARPATY Song and Dance EnsembleThe Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble was established by UITM authorities in 2000. The group was made up of folk enthusiasts, mainly UITM students and graduates from the very beginning of its existence.

The Inauguration of the Academic Year 2001/2002The Inauguration of the Academic Year 2001/2002 took place on October 7, 2001 in the in the Main Auditorium of Rzeszow Campus.

We save time and money; the University Management System was developed at UITM. The system was called Uczelnia.XP. The system is one of the most technologically advanced systems in PolandManaging Higher Education Institutions is not easy, but Uczelnia.XP which was developed in cooperation with companies, such as Computerland and Partner-in-Progress, facilitated the management process.

We opened our first recruitment points in the biggest Ukrainian cities2001 was a breakthrough year for the education of Ukrainian students at UITM. We opened recruitment points in the biggest Ukrainian cities. Since then, the number of Ukrainian students at UITM began to grow significantly.

Business Cycle Indicator is developed by the Institute of Economics at University of Information Technology and Management in RzeszówThe first product of the Institute was the Business Cycle Indicator–it was the quarterly report for Podkarpackie and Lubelskie Provinces.

How to effectively fight cancer? UITM researchers develop tools to diagnose selected Melanocytic Skin LesionsThe first research project for which UITM won funds was titled: Research on methods of computer aided diagnosis of melanocytic skin lesion and malignant melanoma.

5 years passed in the blink of an eye. The academic year 2000-2001 is marked by the 5th anniversary of the UniversityWithin the scope of the jubilee celebrations, there were organized a series of open lectures, conferences, meetings with representatives of the scientific community, culture and art.

UITM is the leader in IT certifications. Cisco Systems announced UITM as the best regional academy among approximately 1850 academies in Europe, Africa and the Middle EastUITM was one of few universities in Poland to include Cisco Networking Academy classes in its curricula. The main objective of the operation was disseminating theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to computer networks.

International agreements are an opportunity for courses and internships abroadWe recruited students for the second edition of the internship programme at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs (USA). 10 students of Leisure and Tourism participated in the internship.

The Programme for Highly Gifted Students is launchedThe purpose of launching The Programme for Highly Gifted Students was to enable the most talented young people to acquire additional knowledge and practical skills.

The international projects are implemented in cooperation with Purdue University and the National Pedagogical Drahomanov University, KievThe Department for Tourism and Recreation of UITM, in collaboration with Purdue University (USA) and the National Pedagogical Drahomanov University in Kiev (the Ukraine), held an international conference.

Doctoral students won funding of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education for their researchThe first university research project (the so-called supervisor grant), financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, concerned the image of a private university on the regional market of educational services.

UITM in cooperation with the Association for the Promotion of Entrepreneurship raises funds for the social and economic development of Podkarpacie – Added not previouslyIn connection with the implementation of the Socrates/Erasmus programme, for the first time cooperation was established with a scientific unit from Scandinavian countries – Central Ostrobothnia Polytechnic, Ylivieska Unit (Finland). This cooperation resulted in the exchange of several students and staff with partner universities in Finland and Germany.

New University Principals and new employeesOn January 1, 2003, the Rector’s duties were taken over by the main founder of the School, Tadeusz Pomianek, Ph.D., UITM Professor. Stanisław Harpula, M.Sc. was appointed Chancellor.

UITM students receive the biggest number of scholarships of the Minister of National Education and Sport among all private universities in PolandAgnieszka Boczoń, Katarzyna Dawidowicz and Michał Janas were awarded scientific scholarships by the Minister of National Education and Sport for the academic year 2003/2004.

UITM Careers Service entered in the employment agency register kept by the Ministry of LabourOn September 15, 2003, the UITM Careers Service was entered in the register of employment agencies kept by the Ministry of Labour.

UITM obtains Erasmus Charter and accreditation from the US Government for funding the education of the US Armed ForcesIn March 2003 the European Commission granted UITM an Erasmus Charter which entitled the University to participate in the Socrates/Erasmus programme. We are developing international collaborationOn July 3, 2003, UITM celebrated the official opening of the Steinbeis Foundation Office – Transferzentrum Standortmanagement & Unternehmensentwicklung which was the first representative office of this institution in Poland.

English-language learning paths permanently in UITM educational offerIn the academic year 2004/2005 UITM expanded its educational offer with studies in English in 3 fields: International Management, Information Technology & Econometrics, Hospitality Management.

UITM experts are the creators of the first anti-plagiarism system and a virtual journal in PolandWithin the framework of University Management System „University XP” which was gaining more and more interest among companies, institutions and universities, UITM launched another important module – an anti-plagiarism system.

40% of UITM students enrolled in the scholarship system

UITM is the only university in Podkarpackie Province to be awarded the title of „Student Friendly University”UITM is awarded the title of „Student Friendly University” – as the only university in Podkarpackie Povince.

We implement a unique offer „One tuition fee – two diplomas”Within one tuition fee UITM students could additionally obtain a second diploma: from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (the USA) or the University of Huddersfield (the UK).

UITM launched additional scholarship programmes for foreign studentsIn the academic year 2005/2006 there were almost 9,500 students at UITM, including nearly 200 foreigners.

UITM takes 1st place in the ranking of „Wprost” weeklyUITM was once again ranked at the top.

UITM began the implementation of the largest project in the history of the university, worth PLN 27 million, which resulted in the creation of the Center for International Education (CIE)Within the scope of the 'Development of Eastern Poland’ Operational Programme, the University was awarded a grant from the Ministry of Regional Development for the construction of the Center for International Education in Kielnarowa. UITM obtained a grant of PLN 24 million in total.

We obtained almost PLN 11 million from the National Center for Research and Development to carry out teaching projectsIf you are not constantly moving forward, you are moving backwards. The development of our educational offer, expansion of practical training opportunities and investment in IT infrastructure enabled UITM to implement two major teaching projects funded by the National Center for Research and Development: „The University of the Future” (considered the best in Poland) and „Employees for the Region” for a total of nearly PLN 11 million.

Education is for everyone: we teach teenagers and people 50+The University developed its own educational initiative for children called the Regional Academy of Inspiration, which was supported by grants worth approximately PLN 1 million. UITM at the top of Polish universities in the international ranking U-MULTIRANK 2020The U-Multirank 2020 ranking confirmed UITM’s high position among Polish universities. UITM received the highest marks, A – very good and B – good, in 15 subcategories. Research, knowledge transfer and internationalization of the University were particularly appreciated.
